SRS-VA Business Statement

Mission:

The Soccer Referee Services of Virginia (SRS-VA) is dedicated to supporting the soccer community by providing highly capable soccer referees to meet the needs and demands of its’ member clubs.  It is designed to address key challenges in the referee community around recruitment and retention while building capabilities in its’ referee members to ensure the right skills exist to the support the game.

Goals:

SRS-VA will achieve its mission by:

  • Maintaining and developing a highly professional and effective organizational staff that supports referee growth at every stage of their career and ensures officiating excellence at every level of the game.

  • Continuously updating and supporting a qualified team of mentors, instructors, referee coaches, and administrative personnel to guide referees through a structured and progressive development model.

  • Acting as a strategic partner with the clubs to ensure their success while maintaining the highest standards as a business.

  • Understanding the needs and aspirations of the referees while driving to ensure 100% coverage with the most talented and capable referees in every position.

Objectives:

 SRS-VA will fulfill its goals through the following strategic objectives:

  1. Collaborating with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), state soccer associations, and affiliated leagues and organizations governing youth and adult soccer.

  2. Partnering with scholastic athletic associations such as the Virginia High School League (VHSL), the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA), and other organizations overseeing middle and high school competitions.

  3. Administering referee registration, recertification, and grade-level management in compliance with national and state guidelines to meet the evolving needs of competitive play.

  4. Providing ongoing education and training opportunities year-round to strengthen referees’ knowledge, consistency, and application of the Laws of the Game.

  5. Offering individualized development pathways to help referees maximize their potential at all levels of experience.

  6. Promoting a culture of teamwork, mentorship, and camaraderie among youth and adult referees through structured peer support and fellowship.

  7. Implementing an efficient and development-focused referee assignment system that meets the operational needs of competitions while supporting referee growth.

  8. Maintaining a comprehensive referee evaluation and feedback program, incorporating peer reviews and input from coaches and team captains, with results used to inform continuous training and professional development.

  9. Staying connected to the clubs we service to understand their changing needs and requirements.

  10. Continue building capability and capacity within the Admin Team to ensure the right skills exists to support the soccer community both now and in the future.
